Have a library with thousands of books, or a cool home office? This badass Steampunk Owl will fit right in! Are those rockets on his back? ha!

Clockwork Cyborg

Wanting to see if anyone knows how to make this. I’ve tried a couple different ways and the winding back piece is just not coming out the way I want it to…any suggestions of who to talk with?

Important edit: I want it to be able to wind up. Where people can turn it and not break it.

Miyazaki Steampunk Clock at NTV Shiodome, Tokyo.

This steampunk themed clock designed by the famous Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli is the largest animated clock in the world. The clock was completed in December 2006 after a design period of over four years.

The enormous copper clock is 12 metres high, 18 metres wide, and has extensive animations timed to music including firing steam cannon, moving figures, and moving legs like Howls Moving Castle.

The clock was built by sculptor Shachimaru Kunio who also built the giant Laputa robot on the rooftop of the Ghibli museum. Miyazaki said that he wanted to make something that would be loved by future generations that would last beyond his animated characters.

Scrap metal sculptures by Edouard Martinet

French artist Edouard Martinet transforms metal pieces found at flea markets and car-boot sales into beautiful works of art.

Using a series of common metallic objects, from rusted kitchen pans, to old typewriter keys and car lights, Martinet manages to create intricate sculptures of fish, reptiles and insects. Without any soldering or welding whatsoever, the artist first draws up a few detailed sketches of what he wants to create, then begins a painstaking process of piecing the metal parts together, like a puzzle. As you can imagine, his scrap metal masterpieces take quite a long time to complete, but they are definitely worth the effort.

Steampunk Alice in Wonderland

In the classic childrens book Alices Adventures in Wonderland, Alice told the hookah-smoking caterpillar that hell one day transform into a butterfly, but she never told him hed go through a steampunk phase first. Introducing: Ignatious Longbottom by the artist Doktor A

Outlandish and innovative, Ignatious Longbottom seen at RiverArt will certainly quench your boredom. Doktor A certainly drove the Turkish vibe from the hookah a bit further with its thick mustache and the fez no, not the foreign kid from That 70s Show on its head.

Steampunk Art by Marcel Boonen, via Behance

Recycling waste of our industrial society is the inspiration of my artwork. All of my sculptures are entirely hand made from recycled scrap metal such as copper, brass and steel . I create art with all kinds of technology and techniques to soften the design despite the roughness and robust properties of the material. Therefore I create art with a respectful atmosphere and sometimes funny or even cynical view of reality. My work emphasizes a balance between the form and function. It blurs the line between utensil and decoration. I’ve created various functional objects such as lamps and clocks who’ve been made from heavy metal scrap into mechanical decoration with an industrial style which I like to call Steampunk Art.
