Steampunk Locomotive – BBQ Grill

This practical work of art was created by a group of metal workers from the village of Deulina, near the city of Ryazan, in Russia, who specialize in interior, exterior and landscape design. The one-of-a-kind Steampunk grill was apparently forged from scrap automobile, motorcycle and train parts, and is currently installed on a private property where very few have the privilege to see it in person. Luckily for the rest of us, the builders took a set of photos for a Moscow exhibition-competition, since their locomotive was too heavy to transport. The grill was apparently built in 2009, but the pics only recently surfaced on a series of Western sites and forums. The little information available on the Steampunk locomotive grill is in Russian, and although Google Translate does a decent job of revealing the essential, there are few paragraphs that dont make much sense. Here is what I was able to make out: the locomotive has three work bays two 60-cm-long grilling pits in the main body and a trailer that acts as a stove. The first compartment is designed for barbecuing kebabs and can accommodate up to twenty skewers, while the second one is equipped with a rotating spit for roasting chicken and large pieces of meat. Some of the locomotive parts are actually functional, like the large brass wheel in the cabin that rotates the spit.

Dragon Sculpture

An awesome looking Dragon, made from upcycled parts

This enormous dragon sculpture by Kreatworks is available for sale on Etsy. It’s definitely not for the average consumer as it stands almost 11-feet-tall and is selling at over $10,000. But, if you have a massive cathedral ceiling and enough dough to spend, it would certainly make an epic addition to the house.

Despite the massive scale of this dragon sculpture, no intricacy is spared. The creature contains amazing steampunk-inspired detail that represents an accurate portrayal of a dragon anatomy — not that there is an official biological diagram of this fictional beast.

Kreatworks has a few other pieces available on his Etsy account such as a steampunk Alien and Predator. This dragon takes the cake for scale and price tag, however.

Jetpack Dog

Blitzen the Steampunk Dog takes to the air with the aid of his water-bottle jetpack and protective goggles. The “jetpack animal” is something of an archetype when it comes to futuristic or retrofuturistic animal costumes, but it’s still a classic. Goggles are a popular pet addition because you can actually buy goggles for your dog, called “Doggles”. I swear I didn’t make that up.

Steampunk Blaster Inspired by Han Solo's Original DL-44

This is a low key Steampunk representation of the DL-44 Blaster used by Han Solo in the Star Wars sagas. It is not intended to be an exact replica but a very close facsimile. It is composed primarily of metal and was originally a c96 Mauser replica before modifications were added. Completely non functional. Brass accents are attached to the left side. The non functional pvc copper enhanced scope is firmly secured to the side of the pistol with a picatinny rail and a scope mount. Thanks for browsing.

Computer mouse, by Daniel Pan

After completing my custom keyboard, I was constantly annoyed with seeing my ugly plastic mouse sitting next to it, so I knew a new project was inevitable. I decided to make a custom matching mouse! At first I felt this project was beyond my abilities, since I had to make actual moving and working parts, but after hours of staring at a dissembled mouse and my boxes and jars of random found objects, I developed a plan of attack. The mouse I started with was a generic 5 button mouse with scroll wheel. The two main left/right buttons were the largest obstacles for I couldnt find anything that would both look and function well. My first though was to use the two sides of a bottom jawbone of some rodent I had lying around, but they ended up being too small and fragile for constant use. I then decided I will just carve some pieces out of wood. After this, I made a mount using brass tubing and brass I-beam shaped pieces. To match the keyboard, I decided to add vintage typewriter keys to each of the finger points on the main 4 buttons of this mouse. I used Alchemy symbols to replace the original letters in the keys. These symbols may or may not have been chosen for a specific significance in this project.

Chambre De Commerce “The Chamber de Commerce”

the Chamber de Commerce alias Cdc is an absolutely fabulous Stock Exchange location, located in a busy city and surrounded by ugly concrete buildings. Only the four relative narrow passages are giving a small glimpse of what the inside of this beautiful queen has to shown. The current building is a reconstruction from 1872. The original building dates from 1531, this late Gothic styled stock market has been burned twice [1583 and 1858]. The CdC is built on top of an existing street intersection with originally no roof, only four covered streets, the still existing and impressive galleries. Around 1853 the square and galleries where covered with a dome modeled on the Crystal Palace in London.

Scrap metal sculptures by Edouard Martinet

French artist Edouard Martinet transforms metal pieces found at flea markets and car-boot sales into beautiful works of art.

Using a series of common metallic objects, from rusted kitchen pans, to old typewriter keys and car lights, Martinet manages to create intricate sculptures of fish, reptiles and insects. Without any soldering or welding whatsoever, the artist first draws up a few detailed sketches of what he wants to create, then begins a painstaking process of piecing the metal parts together, like a puzzle. As you can imagine, his scrap metal masterpieces take quite a long time to complete, but they are definitely worth the effort.

Karl’s Steampunk Box

Glorious details, stunning execution, great design. I love the care and creativity put into this.

“This is a box to put drawings in for my little nephew. Have a look at the unpainted version: fav.me/d305f7t

The sign on the top left corner reads: “Cogitatio – inductus aeternus” (Fantasy – Eternal Drive)

The two big advantages of this design are one the one hand: It always looks great on a bookshelf and on the other hand: you can never pile something else on it because of the cogwheels. –> So this box will never vanish in the deeps of a lumber room.
